Phoenix Future Safety Leaders Bursary
Terms & Conditions
1. About the Bursary
The Phoenix Future Safety Leaders Bursary has been established by Phoenix Health & Safety to support aspiring health and safety professionals in taking their first steps into the profession.
Each year, Phoenix Health & Safety intends to award up to two bursaries, each covering the cost of a NEBOSH General Certificate programme delivered by Phoenix Health & Safety.
The bursary is intended to support individuals who demonstrate a genuine interest in developing a career in health and safety and who may otherwise face barriers to accessing professional training.
The bursary is an investment in future talent and is designed to support individuals with the motivation, commitment and potential to contribute positively to the profession.
2. Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be aged 18 years or over at the time of application
- Be resident in the United Kingdom
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in health and safety
- Be willing and able to commit the time required to complete the course and assessment
- Be self-directed, i.e. organisations are not eligible to apply on behalf of their employees
- Complete the bursary application form in full before the published closing date
- Employees of Phoenix Health & Safety, Wilmington plc, and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply.
- One place on a Phoenix Health & Safety NEBOSH General Certificate programme or National Diploma
- Associated tuition and learning materials provided as part of the programme
- Exam fees associated with the programme
- Motivation and commitment to developing a career in health and safety
- Demonstrated potential to benefit from the bursary
- Quality of the application submission
- Any barriers that may otherwise prevent access to professional training
- Fails to engage with the programme
- Withdraws from the course
- Provides false or misleading information during the application process
- Behaves in a manner that may bring Phoenix Health & Safety into disrepute
- Breaches applicable course terms and conditions
Phoenix Health & Safety reserves the right to request evidence of eligibility where reasonably required.
3. Equality of Opportunity
Phoenix Health & Safety is committed to providing equal opportunities and welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds, experiences and communities.
Applications will be assessed against the published selection criteria and will not be judged on the basis of age, gender, race, disability, religion, sexual orientation or any other protected characteristic.
4. Bursary Award
Each bursary will include:
The bursary is non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and may not be transferred to another individual.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the bursary does not include travel, accommodation, internet access, equipment, resit fees, examination resits or any additional costs associated with course attendance or assessment.
5. Course Commencement
Recipients must commence their awarded programme within the intake period specified by Phoenix Health & Safety.
Where a recipient is unable or unwilling to commence their programme within the agreed timeframe, Phoenix Health & Safety reserves the right to withdraw the bursary and offer it to another applicant.
6. Application Process
Applications must be submitted via the official Phoenix Future Safety Leaders Bursary application form.
Applicants may submit only one application per bursary cycle.
Incomplete, inaccurate or late applications may not be considered.
By submitting an application, applicants confirm that all information provided is accurate and complete to the best of their knowledge.
Phoenix Health & Safety reserves the right to verify information submitted as part of the application process.
7. Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by a bursary selection panel appointed by Phoenix Health & Safety.
Applications will be assessed based on:
Phoenix Health & Safety reserves the right to request additional information from shortlisted applicants.
The panel's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding individual selection decisions.
Phoenix Health & Safety reserves the right not to award a bursary in any year where suitable applicants are not identified.
8. Announcement of Recipients
Successful applicants will be contacted directly using the details provided within their application.
If a selected recipient does not respond within 14 days of being contacted, Phoenix Health & Safety reserves the right to withdraw the offer and award the bursary to another applicant.
9. Participation and Engagement
Recipients are expected to actively participate in their programme of study and make reasonable efforts to complete the qualification.

10. Qualification Outcomes
The bursary provides access to training and assessment opportunities but does not guarantee successful completion of the qualification.
Recipients remain responsible for meeting all course requirements, completing assessments and achieving any applicable pass standards.
Phoenix Health & Safety accepts no responsibility for a recipient's performance within the programme or assessment outcomes.
11. Publicity and Case Studies
As part of the Future Safety Leaders initiative, Phoenix Health & Safety may invite bursary recipients to participate in case studies, interviews, photography, video content and promotional activities relating to the programme.
Participation in publicity activities is not a condition of receiving the bursary.
Any participation will be agreed separately with the recipient and any use of personal information will be managed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
12. Data Protection
Personal information submitted as part of the application process will be processed by Phoenix Health & Safety for the purposes of administering the bursary programme.
All personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation and Phoenix Health & Safety's Privacy Policy.
By submitting an application, applicants consent to Phoenix Health & Safety contacting them regarding the administration of the bursary programme.
13. Changes, Suspension or Cancellation
Phoenix Health & Safety reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw the bursary programme at any time where reasonably necessary to do so.
This may include circumstances beyond Phoenix Health & Safety's reasonable control, insufficient applications, operational requirements or other unforeseen circumstances.
Any material changes will be communicated via the Phoenix Health & Safety website.
14. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude or limit any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Subject to this, Phoenix Health & Safety shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or economic loss arising from participation in the bursary programme.
15. Governing Law
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes arising in connection with the bursary programme shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
